Man appears in court 43 days after he pushed woman into Lagos drainage
A 45-year-old man, Adedeji Ojota, who allegedly assaulted a woman by pushing her into a gutter, was, on Monday, brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The defendant appeared on three charges of conspiracy, assault and threat to life.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp Godwin Awase, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 15, at 7.20 p.m. at Ijeshatedo, Lagos State.
She said that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Mrs Adedayo Ojora, by pushing her into a gutter, thus causing injury to her left leg.
Awase added that the defendant also sent threat messages to the complainant and her sister, Adewunmi Ojora.
According to her, the offences contravene Sections 173, 299 and 232 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs F. F. George, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties each in like sum.
She, thereafter, adjourned case till March 23.
