Maguire hails Cavani, Sancho after Newcastle draw
Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire, has hailed Edinson Cavani and Jadon Sancho for their impact in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on Monday night.
United were down by Allan Saint-Maximin’s sevebth0minute opener at St James’ Park but the introduction of Cavani and Sancho gave Ralf Ragnick’s men a lift.
It didn’t take too long for their impact to show but the Red Devils were forced to wait until the 71st minute when a Diogo Dalot pass found Cavani who forced in the equaliser after two attempts.
Speaking before their final game of the year 2021 against Burnley at Ild Trafford on Thursday, Maguire gave credits to the duo for their efforts in the draw.
“[Cavani] He’s come on and made a big impact and I think you have seen in the first 30 minutes of the second half especially, it was probably our best spell in the game,” Maguire was quoted by Man United’s official website as saying after the game.
“Credit to them [Sancho and Cavani] for making that change in tempo and intensity.”
He added, “A point, in the end, is a fair result, but it’s a result that we are disappointed with.
“The Burnley game and the Wolves game are coming up thick and fast and we have got to play better than we have done tonight to make sure we get three points.”
