Mount bags hattrick as Chelsea demolish Norwich
Mason Mount netted his first Chelsea hattrick on Saturday in the 7-0 demolition of bottom-placed Norwich City.
Thomas Tuchel’s side hardly felt the absence of their top strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner who were out due to injuries picked up in the Champions League in mid-week.
Mount rose to the ocassion by netting Chelsea’s opener eight minutes into the game.
Callum Hodson-Odoi doubled the lead 10 minutes later before Reece James made it 3-0 three minutes to the breaks.
Ben Chilwell made it 4-0 in the 57th minute before Max Aarons netted an own-goal (62′) to aid Chelsea’s five-star performance.
Mount who began the goal fest sealed his hattrick with two late goals (85′ penalty, 90+1′) to extend The Blues’ lead atop the summit.
Liverpool who face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday are second with four points while Manchester City trail the European Champions by five points after Tuchel’s men picked 22points from nine matches.
