Danish international defender, Jannick Vestergaard, has expressed excitement after joining Leicester City from Southampton on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old whose contract at King Power Stadium runs til 2024 will be eligible to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in Saturdayโ€™s Premier League opener at King Power Stadium.

He made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Saints during the 2020/21 campaign and played a key role for Denmark at UEFA EURO 2020, helping his country to the last four of the competition.

Speaking toย LCFC TV, he said:ย “Iโ€™m very happy and Iโ€™m really excited to get going. Itโ€™s a special Club that has done very well over many years and I think the project is very, very exciting, even from the outside looking in. To be a part of it is a big thing for me.

“I know a couple of the players, andย Kasper [Schmeichel]ย andย Ryan [Bertrand]ย I know very well and get along with off the pitch, so thatโ€™s going to be very easy. Just from my first impression of the guys in the dressing room, theyโ€™re a good bunch, and Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll settle in very quickly.”
