Shake-up in police as FCT, Enugu,11 commands get new commissioners
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Friday announced the redeployment of 13 Commissioners of Police to take over the commands of the Federal Capital Territory, Enugu and 11 other states.
Baba disclosed that the posting is with immediate effect.
The police spokesman, Frank Mba, a commissioner of police, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Friday, titled, ‘Enugu, FCT, Kaduna, 10 other state commands get new Commissioners of Police.’
It read, “The affected state commands are: Niger State Command, Monday Kuryas; Kwara State, Emienbo Assayamo; Nasarawa State, Soyemi Adesina; Taraba State, Abimbola Shokoya; Benue State, Akingbola Olatunji; FCT, Babaji Sunday; Kogi State, Arungwa Udo; Kaduna State, Abdullahi Mudashiru; Jigawa State, Aliyu Tafida; Enugu State, Abubakar Lawal; Cross River State, Alhassan Aminu; Bayelsa State, Echeng Echeng and Kebbi State, Musa Baba.
“Other senior officers deployed are CP Ndatsu Mohammed, a former Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, who is now the CP Anti-Fraud Unit FCID, Abuja; Sikiru Akande, a former CP in Cross River State who is now redeployed to the Department of ICT as the CP ICT, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Similarly, Bankole Sikiru is now the CP INTERPOL, FCID Lagos; while Augustine Arop is the Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College Jos.
The IG, while charging the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them, assured citizens of sustained efforts by the force in stabilizing security in the country.
He enjoined citizens in the affected states to cooperate with their new CPs for efficient service delivery.
