JUST IN: DSS invites Sheikh Gumi
The Department of State Services on Friday reportedly summoned controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for questioning over his recent comments during an Arise TV interview claiming that Nigerian soldiers aid bandits’ activities.
The Hausa service of Voice of America disclosed on Friday that Gumi was summoned to the DSS office in Kaduna State,
However, the cleric’s spokesman, Tukur Mamu, dismissed the allegation against Gumi in a separate interview with the VOA.
According to him, there was nowhere in the TV interview where Gumi categorically accused the entire military.
Mamu stressed that Gumi only re-echoed what “even the soldiers have been saying that there could be some bad eggs amongst them”.
