Spain’s head coach, Luis Enrique, has rallied behind Juventus striker, Alvaro Morata after La Roja began their Euro 2020 campaign with a goalless draw against Sweden.

Although the Swedes had opportunities to score in the game, Morata’s wastefulness in the first half was the highlight of many misses in the game widely dominated by the Spaniard.

Speaking in a post-match interview, according to Marca, Enrique defended the former Chelsea striker for the miss.

“We have been the superior side against a rival that wanted to defend”, he told El Chiriguito TV.

“The pitch also did not help and the players have complained about it.

“I have heard the whistles for Morata but then he was applauded off.

“He does a lot for the team and he is used to these situations so I do not think it will affect him.”
