European football governing body, UEFA, has shelved legal proceedings against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus over their involvement in the ill-fated European Super League.

This was disclosed in an official statement released by UEFA on Wednesday after launching disciplinary proceedings against the three clubs which have since refused to announce their withdrawal from the project.

“Following the opening of disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona, Juventus FC and Real Madrid CF for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, the UEFA Appeals Body has decided to stay the proceedings until further notice,” says UEFA.

WUZUPNIGERIA reported that the ESL crashed before its proposed take-off after nine of the 12 original founding clubs pulled out and struck a deal with UEFA in April after criticisms from different angles.

On Wednesday, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham reached a financial settlement worth a combined £22 million ($31 million) with the Premier League earlier Wednesday.

AFP reported that Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and AC Milan have agreed to forego five per cent of their revenue from UEFA competitions for one season and pay a combined 15-million-euro ($18 million) donation to support grassroots and youth football in Europe.
