Police uncover seven cells operated by IPOB in Edo
The Nigerian Police, on Wednesday, discovered seven structures believed to be cells of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra in two senatorial districts of Edo State.
The statement was revealed by Deputy Inspector General of Police, South-South Zone of Operation Restore Peace, DIG Moses Jitoboh at a stakeholder meeting in Benin City.
According to Vanguard, Jitoboh identified the areas as Ologbo, Okhuae, Igbanke, Iguolaba, Abudu in Edo South senatorial district and Igueben and Ubiaja in Edo Central senatorial district.
Commending his operatives for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in Edo, the DIG reassured the public that the Police were ready to ensure there was no breakdown of law and order in the zone.
“There is no way Police can be effective without the support of the people, especially the traditional rulers.
“Vigilante is one thing the society needs, we cannot do without them, there must be synergy between the Police and the vigilante.”
