Amazing! Lady creates strong interlocking tiles from recycled ‘pure water’ sachets
A Nigerian lady, Intissar Bashir Kurfi, has applauded for her creativity after she made interlocking tiles out of used pure water sachets.
The 29-year-old founder of Ifrique Design disclosed that she embarked on the project to use waste to make interlocking tiles because of the danger of plastic waste in society.
She disclosed this in an interview with BBC Pidgin.
Kurfi stated that she engages students in picking the waste and rewards them with solar light for night reading.
Speaking further, Kurfi said she collects plastic wastes and processes them into bricks that could last longer than conventional ones.
For one of her projects, the young entrepreneur created 1,250 pieces of interlocking bricks from 625,000 pure water sachets.
“My wish is to rid Nigeria out of plastic and especially Abuja and also to see that our product is being used for making roads that don’t have potholes and building houses, building schools, building public toilets out of these plastic wastes that we have.”
