Israel to reopen schools, return to normal classroom sizes

Published

The Israeli government have decided to reopen schools and revert from lessons in small groups to normal classroom sizes from Sunday.

The office of the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the decision early on Tuesday, almost four months after the start of a vaccination campaign widely deemed one of the most successful in the world.

At the same time, a monitoring system was to be introduced to quickly detect infections, Netanyahu’s office said.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign on Dec. 19, the number of new infections as well as the number of seriously ill people have fallen sharply in the country of nine million people.

The government has begun to gradually ease coronavirus-related restrictions.
