Reactions have continued to trail the scuttled convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which was scheduled to hold at the Sharks International Stadium in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Nigerians trooped to different social media platforms to air their views about the incidents that began around 4.am on Wednesday.

The PDP conventioneers had woken up to the sight of heavy artillery blocking all roads leading to the convention venue. The Sharks International Stadium venue itself had also been sealed off.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Donald Awunah, while confirming that the force was truly responsible for sealing off the venue had also explained that it was done in other to fulfill the basic responsibility of the police to protect life.

He had added that due to the tension surrounding the convention and the conflicting court rulings on the national convention, the police thought it best to seal off the venue.

But the Police Commissioner in the state, Francis Odesanya said that he did not seal off the convention venue but he only provided security.

Here are some of the reactions from Disqus social media platform.

“Sheriff wins again. PDP in disarray. The change the change convention has been postponed till further notice. Fayose and Wike brought this problem (sheriff) to PDP. Pdp sympathizers, how market?” – MuhammadKabir Wahab

But truly this judicial rascality is most unfortunate. What is the point of two separate judgements from the same court? I am aware that this matter was first brought before the Appeal Court in Abuja where the PDP head office and PDP itself is located. Judgement was given then. Perhaps the judiciary can explain why a similar court in Port Harcourt was allowed to attend yet again to the same matter with a different judgement? Why didn’t the judge in Port Harcourt speak to the judge in Abuja? By the way, what is the jurisdiction of the court in Port Harcourt over a matter raised and addressed in Abuja? The calibre of members of the judiciary in our country gives very serious cause for concern. This is exactly why the executive arm of government keeps heaping blames on the judiciary for gross ineptitude. There should be complete overhaul of our judiciary in the best interest of our institutions and well being as a country. It is simply about time this is done,” –  Azzo .

“The Governor should save the states money, send everybody home and have the party EXECUTIVES do the right thing. Sit down with Sheriff and negotiate a way out of this logjam they have created for themselves.
This is what you get from a culture of impunity, lawlessness and ego tripping. It will always set us back ages,” – Ola

They just shot themselves in the leg…. INEC will not recognise their candidate in the forthcoming Ondo primaries because no electoral official was present and not up to 1/3 of the delegates support the motion to extend the tenure of the CTC,” – FERANMI .
