The Lagos State Police operatives have arrested a young man identified as Peter Arinola who reportedly attempted to rape a lady while in possession of a pistol.
According to the Rapid Response Squad of the police force, Arinola was arrested at the Empire Area in the Surelere area of Lagos State.
Upon investigation, the police discovered that the pistol in the custody of the suspect belongs to a suspected armed robber who is currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the arrest of the suspected robber.
“Police operatives attached to Surulere Division have arrested one Peter Arinola @ Empire Area, Surulere, with an English Pistol while he was negotiating and harassing a lady for sex.
Peter was overpowered and arrested by the people around the brothel.
Police investigation revealed that Arinola used assist an armed robber to keep the pistol for operations. 5 rounds of ammunition have been recovered during the course of police investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered that the owner of the pistol and suspected armed robber, who is at large, be apprehended and brought to book,” the police statement read.
