A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has slammed a follower on Twitter for asking of he won’t decamp to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Omokri had in a post questioned the move by the President, Major General, Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to borrow $2bn for the construction of a railway to Niger Rep.
He said, “Does it make sense for Nigeria to borrow $2 billion to build a railway to Niger? Can Nigeria even own a railway that is built in another country? Why can’t Niger build their own rail? Or is it to transport herdsmen and bandits to kill Nigerians more efficiently?”
In response, the follower (@Abatcha6) hoped to pull a fast one on Omokri by indirectly calling him a disgruntled element while asking if he won’t dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
The follower said: “Hope we won’t see you joining your brother in Almajiri party Congress, we know disgruntled elements can behave like chameleon.”
However, the rights activist didn’t let it slide as he wished him the same fate as his namesake, former military president, Sanni Abacha.

Meanwhile. the Federal Government has flagged off the construction of the rail line known as Kano-Katsina-Jibiya-Maradi (Niger Republic) rail line with a branch line from Kano.
Buhari on Tuesday while presiding over the virtual commencement of the rail line from the Presidential Villa, Abuja said that connecting Niger Republic through rail would, among other benefits, foster trans-Sahara trade and contribute to the expected gains in the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.
The rail line crosses the major commercial and administrative centre of Kano and passes through other economic hubs of the country including Kazaure, Daura, Katsina and up to the border town of Jibiya and the Niger Republic city of Maradi.
“The Kano – Maradi rail line has been identified as a viable line that will significantly enhance the movement of passengers and freight to the hinterland especially raw materials from both agricultural and mineral resources for our industries.
“The project, when completed, would aid import and export of goods for the Niger Republic and other countries in the sub-region through Nigerian ports. The country would earn revenue through expansion of trade and commerce, while the people of the Niger Republic will benefit from the ease of transportation logistics at an affordable cost in their import and export business.
“The connection to the Niger Republic through rail will also foster trans-Sahara trade and contribute to the expected gains in the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement,” Buhari said.
Recall that the Federal Government approved $1,959,744,723.71 for the construction of a rail line that will link Nigeria to the Niger Republic in September 2020.
The construction has been kickstarted by Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil.
