Domestic violence: Celebrities frown at reconciliation between Channels Tv reporter, wife
Some Nigerian celebrities have taken to their Twitter accounts to express their displeasure over the reconciliation between Channels Television reporter, Pius Angbo and his medical doctor wife, Ifeyinwa, shortly after his wife accused him of physically assaulting her.
The reconciliation was spearheaded by the governor of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom, on Monday.
Popular OAP, actress and brand influencer, Toke Makinwa, took to her Twitter to state her disappointment about the matter. She tweeted, “I’m a bit disappointed but not shocked at the doctor and journalist situation, domestic abuse should not be something we treat like this, your kids are around all this toxicity, this is sad, this is bad.
Popular actress, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, also took to her Twitter account to urge people not to normalise violence against women. She wrote, “STOP NORMALISING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. This woman told us this man sat on her stomach after a caesarean section. EVIL!!! There is nothing noble about staying in an abusive relationship or marriage. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!”
Female rap artiste, Kel, also frowned at the situation, stating that she was disgusted. She wrote, “Just look at this. And the governor and his wife thought it best to ‘reconcile’ this woman with her abuser??? Someone that should be thrown in jail asap! And people are celebrating this rubbish??? Gosh. This is so sad. I’m so disgusted and angry.”
Award-winning singer, Praiz, while commenting on the incident simply tweeted, “Idk who needs to hear this but if person dey abuse you, carry your two legs waka commot.”
