Manchester United have opted to activate the one-year extension of midfielder, Paul Pogba’s contract, local media reports.
This comes after the French midfielder hinted, for the second time, at a move away from Old Trafford, by expressing an interest in joining Real Madrid last week.
Pogba’s contract which was supposed to expire at the end of this season will now be over by 2022 and United will be hoping to change his mind to stay further or get a good price to avoid the inevitable (letting him go as a free agent).
Solskjaer confirmed this by giving an update on Paul Pogba in an interview ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Newcastle: “He’s going to be here for another two years and I’m sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us”
“Paul’s our player, he’s going to be here for another two years and I’m sure Paul is focused on doing his best for us and we want to see the best of Paul,” Solskjaer said.
“So, in the next next couple of years, I’m sure we’ll get the best out of him.”
Pogba re-signed for United in 2016 for a then-world record fee of £89million but said it is his ‘dream’ to move to Madrid, who reappointed Zinedine Zidane as coach in March 2019.
