Australian High Commission to Nigeria warns against visiting #EndSARS protests
The Australian High Commission to Nigeria has advised against visiting the grounds where EndSARS protests are taking place in the country.
The advised was given on Twitter by Claire Ireland, the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria.
She said:
“There are ongoing protests in Abuja, Lagos and other locations in Nigeria. Avoid these protests and follow the advice of local authorities.”
She later clarified that her tweet is not in any way an indication that the protests are violent.
She added:
“I would like to apologise for earlier message. We did not mean to imply the protests were violent in general. We respect people’s right to peacefully protest.”
WuzupNigeria reported that some thugs wielding dangerous weapons attacked the EndSARS protesters in Abuja yesterday.
Several cars were damaged by the thugs who dispersed the protesters who are demanding for an end to police brutality.
