VIDEO: UFC’s Nigerian Nightmare, Kamaru Usman is proud of his country
Kamaru Usman from Auchi in Edo State is excelling in Mixed Martial Art, at the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Popularly known in the UFC’s Octagon as the Nigerian Nightmare, Usman who was born in Benin City, moved to the United States at age five.
Usman ranked 13th in the UFC’s welterweight category, made his professional debut in November 2012.
He has a record of 5 – 1, competing for several regional promotions before trying out for The Ultimate Fighter in early 2015.
He currently holds the record for longest active win streaks of six in his welterweight category after beating a challenger, Sérgio Moraes on Saturday at the UFC Fight Night 116.
Usman beat Moraes, a 4-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion by a knockout in round one.
After the battle, Usman told the crowd that Nigerians don’t come last.
“Naija no dey carry last,” the 29-year-old said in fluent Pidgin English.
