Tim Sherwood slams Aubameyang as Aston Villa defeat Arsenal 1-0
Former Tottenham manager, Tim Sherwood, on Tuesday night slammed Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Gabonese international was seen laughing and joking with Aston Villa star, Tyrone Mings shortly before midfielder, Mahmoud Trezeguet, scored a goal against the Gunners.
Aston Villa defeated Arsenal 1-0 at Villa Park, thanks to Trezeguet’s lone goal following an assist from Mings.
Aubameyang was caught napping as Trezeguet converted Mings’ flick to give the host all three points against Mikel Arteta’s side.
But Sherwood was not impressed with Aubameyang’s actions, describing it as typical of Arsenal’s performance and a “schoolboy error”.
“This is typical of Arsenal’s performance,” Sherwood told Premier League Productions.
“It’s ‘We will have a little joke about’ but Mings is more alert, he goes ‘Ta-ta, see you later, I am going to go near post I am going to flick this on, and you are going to be 1-0 down’ ‘[Aubameyang’s] sleeping.
“It is not a game on the park; this is a professional football match where you have got a chance to finish in the Europa League spots.
“Your manager [Mikel Arteta] has said it before the game that you need to win two football matches to finish in the Europa League, and there’s still a chance of that.
“That’s not good enough. That is just like a schoolboy having a joke with his friend. Mings knew what he was doing because what he was doing was luring him in, and then he was gone.”
