Police arrest suspects over Anambra church massacre
The Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, has disclosed that some of the suspects involved in the massacre of members of the St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, near Nnewi, Anambra State have been arrested.
Governor Obiano said this on Monday while stressing that all those behind the attack will be made to face the law.
“We have actually picked up some of the key members,” he said without disclosing details.
“I am confident that we are going to solve this problem and the way we handle it will show them (the perpetrators) that you can’t import your trouble from wherever you are in Africa and bring it to Anambra State.”
The Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar had earlier assured the people of the state to go about their normal business, stressing that the police were on top of the situation.
Umar said, ” I want to assure the people of the state that the Ozubulu incident was not a terrorist attack in the mode of Boko Haram.
“It’s a feud between two individuals in the community. We’ve identified some people and we shall invite them. If they refuse to come, we shall declare them wanted. We’re on top of the situation,” the CP stated.
