Video: Federal Girls College Akure student ordered to destroy her phone on assembly ground
A video of a student destroying her phone with her big stone has gone viral on social media.
WuzupNigeria gathered that the female student of The Federal Girls College, Akure, Ondo State was ordered by her teachers to destroy the phone in front of the whole school as punishment.
Apparently, the use of mobile devices is prohibited in the school but some social media users found the teachers’ directives appalling and too extreme.
They suggested the teachers could have just seized the phone and summoned her parents afterwards.
Olayemi Fasipe, who posted the video said:
‘I understand that mobile phones are prohibited in some boarding schools, but asking students to destroy their phones by themselves is not fair enough, especially after they had suspended them from the hostel. This is Federal Girls College in Akure.’
