Police rescue Benue’s Director of Treasury from kidnappers
The police in Benue have rescued the Director of Treasury, Benue State Ministry of Finance, Makurdi, who was kidnapped from his residence by unknown gunmen.
Mr. Geoffrey Agada was rescued by officers and men of Operation Zenda after spending four days in captivity.
WuzupNigeria reports that the kidnappers had demanded N50m as a ransom for Agada’s release.
Speaking while handing over the victim to Governor Samuel Ortom at Government House in Makurdi, the State Commissioner of Police, Mukkadas Garba, police worked on credible intelligence until Agada was rescued alive and unhurt with no ransom paid.
” We have been working round the clock to see how we can rescue Agada unhurt and alive ever since he was abducted and by the grace of God, we have been able to have encounter with the kidnappers and Mr Agada has been rescued alive without any ransom paid. We have commenced full-scale investigation to arrest all those behind the act”.
“We have been arresting and arraigning these hoodlums and a lot of them have been convicted and we are working round the clock to make sure these people are cleared from the society,” Mukaddas said.
Governor Ortom commended the police for their quick intervention in making sure that Agada was rescued alive and with no ransom paid on his head.
He said it is sacrilegious for someone to kidnap his fellow human and demand for N50m ransom and commended the State Police Commissioner for his uncommon commitments in ensuring peace and security is achieved in State.
