Today’s result leaves both teams with four points ahead of their final group games on Saturday.
It was the 7th meeting between the Black Queens and Super Falcons in the AWC. Nigeria have the upper hand with three wins, one defeat and three draws now.
Prior to today’s match, coach Yusif Basigi of Ghana had insisted that his side would not be disgraced by the Super Falcons.
“When it comes to Ghana versus Nigeria is a different ball game altogether,” Basigi told newsmen ahead of the match.
“They massacre Mali 6-0 but that does it means they are going to massacre Ghana by 6-0 or more. Against Nigeria, I think we need to up our game a little bit.
“We’ll revise our notes on our weaker side, we’ll work on it and polish on the stronger side as well. Nigeria shouldn’t underestimate us at all because when these two countries meet in football.
“It could go either side, hence we’ll really be determined to shock them and progress to the next stage. So let the day come and you will see what will happen that day.”
Goals from Samira Suleman, Elizabeth Addo, and Portia Boakye ensured the Black Queens came from behind to secure victory against debutants Kenya in their first match.
Meanwhile, Kenya will take on Mali in the next match in group B.
