Pastor performing spiritual cleansing caused Igando pipeline explosion, Twitter user says
A Nigerian lady has taken to Twitter to narrate her account of what is believed to have caused the pipeline explosion around Igando in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos in the early hours of Thursday.
WuzupNigeria reports that two people were burnt to death, while another victim who sustained 70-degree burns has been taken to Igando General Hospital for treatment.
@Bimbo_cash in a thread of tweets said the fire was caused by a pastor who took his church member to the stream close to the pipeline for spiritual cleansing.
She wrote:
“So I just got to the scene to help victims, Eye witness said a man came to have a bath at the river near the pipeline with his Pastor. They were warned that there is fuel spill floating, They ignored. The man packed his venza nearby. The candle lighted ignited the fire
“It happened at Iyana Odo along Igando. The pastor is burnt but was rescued. The man he was doing deliverance for has been burnt beyond recognition. The area has been restricted.
“The victims were first ignored out of fear. The Pastor cried out for help, burnt and asked that they should use the car to take him to the hospital. The Venza car is still here.
“Fire service is here. But it came late . 1 hour after the explosion. They are trying their best.”
