Nigerian Immigration forcibly took me to their office, confiscated my passport – Gokada’s CEO
Fahim Saleh, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Bike-hailing service, Gokada, has accused operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service of harassing him and confiscating his passport.
Saleh, a Bangladeshi-American, took to his Twitter page @fahims on Monday afternoon to raise an alarm while he was being taken to the Immigration office in Ikeja, Lagos.
He tweeted:
“Nigerian immigration officers forcibly taking me to office. Have all work permits, just not on me. Soft copies not enough.. What a wasted day. So much for foreign investment? #Nigeria #Immigration.”
Eight minutes after Saleh posted the tweet, the Nigeria Immigration via its official Twitter handle @Nigimmigration reacted and asked him to provide details.
He tweeted:
Ikeja immigration zone a. Having a gokada get my physical passport from VI now.

An hour after his first tweet, he revealed that his passport which he asked one of his staff to get for him from his office in Victoria Island has been confiscated by the operatives.
As at the time of filing this report, Saleh has not posted any update about his ordeal,
The Immigration, however, assured him that the issue would be resolved.
Hi Fahim, we’re in touch with Lagos on this matter. It will be resolved. Thank you.

About 10 minutes ago, Saleh posted an update, saying he has been released but his passport was held by the officers.
Left the office without my passport. They want to see company returns and hopefully they will return it tomorrow. ?
