Falz’s ‘This is Nigeria’ music visuals showcased in Paris art gallery

Palais de Tokyo, the largest museum in France, dedicated to temporary exhibitions of contemporary art showcased the visuals of “This is Nigeria” a song by alist rapper, Falz, in its gallery.

“This is Nigeria”, Falz’s 2018 socio-political satire single, addresses numerous political and social ills prevalent in Nigeria.

Palais de Tokyo placed the visuals of “This is Nigeria” on display since July 2019.

The elated 30-year-old rapper shared the news on his Instagram page and appreciated the Paris art gallery.

In the video which accompanied his post, Falz is seen with a headset in front of a cinema screen as the Childish Gambino-inspired song plays on.

“This amazing art gallery in Paris called @palaisdetokyo have had my work #ThisIsNigeria on display for the past two months or so! Last night, I had the chance of seeing for myself.

“Pleased to see this deep appreciation of art as a weapon of rebellion. Shouts to @hugovitrani.

The Palais de Tokyo (Palace of Tokyo) is a building dedicated to modern and contemporary art, located at 13 avenue du Président-Wilson, near the Trocadéro, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

On June 5, 2018, the Muslim Rights Concern demanded that Falz withdraw the music video or face legal action. He was also asked to apologise for using women wearing hijab and dancing Shaku Shaku.

This triggered a viral outrage on social media. Falz’s management also released a statement stating that the music video will not be taken down.

Nigerian Twitter users showed support for the video and also advised the rapper not to take down the video.
