Husband means master, not equal partner, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s teaching on marriage divides Twitter [Video]
The Senior Pastor of Christ Embassy, Chris Oyakhilome’s recent teaching on marriage and wives duties to their husbands has caused division among Nigerians on Twitter.
The snippets of the teaching emerged on the micro-blogging site Twitter on Thursday.
In the viral video which has made Pastor Chris a trending topic on Twitter in Nigeria, the cleric told his congregants that the cause of broken homes among Christians was as a result of lack of submissiveness by wives to their husbands and non-adherence to God’s directive on marriage.
He said:
“Some of you think the male partner in a marriage, husband means master not the male partner in a marriage.
“That is the reason for a lot of problems among Christians in their marriage.
“Marriage in Christianity for most people is just a flop because they don’t agree with God’s definition they have theirs, they believe they are equal partners. A lot of times listen to two people that had just gotten married, a lot of times it’s the woman that speaks first.
“You are a help, not somebody to tell him what to do. If that is easily understood in every home, how do you think you will have problems?”
The teaching has evoked series of reactions on Twitter with many who supported Oyakhilome’s teaching saying his words are backed by the Bible, while others who condemned his teaching opined that a man and a woman are equal partners in a marriage.

Pastor Chris is right. Even if a female contests to become a president, most feminists shouting on twitter won’t even leave their homes, talk less of voting. pic.twitter.com/scNzQ59XVp

You’ve never listened to one message by Pastor Chris, but you watch one short clip and “he’s cancelled.” Lol.
I don’t agree with what he said in that video, but no one can deny his work over the years. He has stayed true to the message of Grace and that’s honorable.

You people should better leave Pastor Chris and go and read your Bible… It’s your Bible telling you the truth, Pastor Chris is only referring to the Bible… So, go and argue with your Bibles ?

Pastor Chris is correct from the Biblical POV. If you have a problem with that then go and argue with God. Period!!!

Women, Husband means master. He’s not an equal partner. He’s your master.~ Pastor Chris
Please if you want to Criticize what Pastor Chris said in the video, come out with a scripture that says a woman is an equal partner. Don’t just talk bullshit.

A wife is an equal partner. The husband is not a master.

Feminists will disagree with this video, but the lessons in it will make any woman who desires a happy marriage appreciate those words of Pastor Chris.
You must understand what your employer wants and not the other way round.

Pastor Chris’ words in that video may have sounded extreme. But The Bible clearly states that the man is the head of the family. Christians (believers) follow the Bible. If you don’t agree with it, that’s your choice. Nobody is forcing it on you. Christianity is a choice.

So you people are busy responding to Pastor Chris who’s divorced at the moment. As far as I am concerned, he shouldn’t be teaching on marriage.
It’s better for him to stick to his teaching on Holy Spirit and finances.
I can’t listen to Pastor Chris when it comes to…
— Mazi Leeward Iyke ?? (@Leeward_IK) July 11, 2019
I think what Pastor Chris said is not for every woman. I think what he means is if you cannot submit to a man then marriage is not for you. I know a lot of women that can’t and they’re happy single. Shikenan!
Why the fuss about this though?!

The reaction to pastor Chris’ message on twitter just made me realize that so many Christians don’t know anything in the Bible.
How could y’all claim to be Christians for years (attending Sunday school) and don’t even know about creation story and marriage teachings?— VICKI (@Vikteneus) July 11, 2019
