Nigerians have lambasted Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad, over his response to a post by Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.
WuzupNaija reports that Omotola in a tweet on Monday described Nigeria under the watch of president Muhammadu Buhari and vice president Yemi Osinbajo as ‘Hellish’ due to the lack of money in circulation coupled with the continuous assault and killings by uniformed personnel.
In his response to Omotola’s tweet, Bashir dismissed her comment, saying those making ‘clean money’ are not complaining under the present administration.
Bashir’s tweet has sparked reactions from Nigerians on the social media who have taken to Twitter to lambaste him for insinuating that the actress was not making ‘clean money’ for speaking up against the plight of the people.
Among prominent Nigerians who have reacted are Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central, social commentator, and activists, Deji Adeyanju, Japhet Omojuwa among many others.
In his reaction, Senator Sani said the actress’ comment was a reflection of the standpoint of millions of poor Nigerians.
The Senator wrote on Twitter,
“Omotola’s view reflects the views of millions of poor Nigerians;throwing mud on her cannot not twist the reality.”
Deji Adeyanju also wrote:
“My dear sis, posterity will be kind to you. You spoke up when it mattered the most. In this part of the world, speaking up against the government is one of the most difficult things to do because the government is more powerful than the people and the constitution.”
Japhet Omojuwa also noted that,
“The reaction to Omotola’s tweet has been shocking really. Someone asking better of her country’s leaders should not always be forced into a partisan narrative. If she wanted to be partisan, she would have posted that before the elections. Not every time party, sometimes Nigeria!
“If Nigeria is as heavenly as some of the reactions to Omotola’s tweet suggest, who are the people running to Canada? Why is everyone, from officeholders to anyone who can save up for a ticket working to have an American child? Can we at least even face our truths?”

For this reason, billions of cash is circulating among millions of Nigerians. This is exactly how they fool the Northerners to vote for them?

We must rise to the occasion & stop the likes of Bashir, Gbenga Gold & other Buharists from using government position to harass critics of the administration.
They’re setting a dangerous process which we must never condone. They were not appointed to be stupid & irresponsible.

As soon as I saw Omotola’s tweet, I knew she had made a mistake with that ‘lack of money in circulation’ line. Buharideens are one-way automatons and you have to insure your tweets against their stupidity https://t.co/rpBUCpGGna

It’s actually sad that you constantly show naivety and lack of touch with reality just because you have a room to your self in the villa. Insinuating that Omotola, one of Nigeria’s most successful film makers makes dirty money, even for you is just too much filth for your mouth. https://t.co/y1j1OTzH4Z

“Are you making clean money?” “Are you paying your taxes?” Next reply from Bashir to Omotola will be to ask if she isn’t a pipeline vandal or a kidnapper?

It goes beyond @Realomosexy, Bashir’s use of the term “clean money” was a deliberate and terrible profiling of the entire Nollywood industry as a place where “immoral or dirty money,” is earned.
A segment of our society can easily decipher his warped labelling. Discernible!

Omotola spoke the mind of the average Nigerian. It is very disrespectful of Bashir to insinuate she doesn’t make her money legitimately. Anyways, it’s easy to sit down inside one room in Aso rock and type trash at people that are working hard for their money.

How much have you ever made legitimately in ur entire existence that you tell @Realomosexy about Clean money? A veteran in the Nollywood industry who started from the scratch & made a name for herself- what do you Bashir know about hustle, if not for Northern agenda who are you? https://t.co/SoIBXyMx1t

And can you tell us your life history Mr Clean money. If not for Buhari and his quota system who is @BashirAhmaad when you were wearing nappies Omotola was already swimming in millions from making movies. And what has your clean money done to reduce the Almajiris In Kano? https://t.co/nbJ7b5Vsqm
