Nigerians could not hold back their astonishment and amusement as a Twitter user (@OmoGbajaBiamila) shares experience on how a man was detained for withdrawing without a card.
According to the young man, the act took place in Ibadan. The detained man had taken advantage of the cardless transaction policy of banks to withdraw some money from an ATM but some onlookers who must have thought he was robbing the bank actually dragged him to the police station.
In his words:
“So, in Ibadan, someone apparently withdrew cash from an ATM using the ‘cardless transaction’ option and some people approached him, apprehended him, dragged him to the police station and got him detained for withdrawing cash without a card. Nigerians never fail! “

Let us just thank God that they decided to hand him over to the Police instead of just typically lynching him to death.
Imagine being beaten to death by illiterates just because you were using financial technology. ???
Education is really important abeg!

This thing happened in osogbo and the guy was beaten blue black even, the policemen did not know about cardess transaction and those of us that try to explain it to them are seen as the guy partner in crime. We have a long way to go in this country.

That’s good to hear. It shows Ibadan people are lawful and security conscious on one side but on the other side most ppl at that ATM were just ignorant of the technology. The banks didn’t do much awareness about it too.

I’m sure you’ve heard about the dangers of stupid people in large numbers. This case is a practical example.
