I cannot marry my baby’s daddy, he talks too much, 39-year-old woman tells court
A 39-year-old woman, Beatrice Agbaniko, on Thursday prayed an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court for an order of protection against her lover and father of her two-year-old son, Samuel.
She is seeking the restraining order on grounds of threats to life and lack of care.
Agbaniko, 39, a resident of No 2, Okesa, Ise-Orun Local Government Area, Ise-Ekiti, told the court that Samuel had been her lover since 2015.
She said Samuel threatened to kill her as she had refused to marry him.
“I have told Samuel many times that I cannot marry him because he is talkative.
“Samuel is also jealous a man who suspects my every move. Besides, he has not provided for his child,” Agbaniko told the court.
She prayed the court to order Samuel to be responsible for his child’s education.
The complainant also prayed the court to award custody of the child to her.
But Samuel, 39, who lives in Ado-Ekiti along Iworoko-Ekiti, denied the allegations levelled against him.
He said when he met the petitioner, they were so much in love.
“She suddenly changed towards me,” he said.
Samuel also denied not being responsible for the welfare of the child and that he still loves his baby’s mother and wants her back.
After listening to the parties, the judge, Mrs. Olayinka Akomolede, adjourned the case until May 16 for further hearing.
