At least 774 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party have crossed over to the All Progressives Congress in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano State.
Receiving the new members on Friday, the Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority, Rabiu Bichi, described the move as a bold and fortunate decision for the defectors.
Bichi maintained that the APC remains the only political platform capable of driving Nigeria toward substantial and sustainable development.
He noted that several projects executed by President Bola Tinubu in the northern region stand as proof of the administration’s commitment under the APC.
The Managing Director added that more than 18 major projects valued in the billions had been completed in Kano State alone.
He also criticised some state governments for allegedly diverting significant funds allocated for development into other areas.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is already delivering positive outcomes, including economic recovery and strengthened food security through various agricultural programmes.
“I assure you today that you will be fully integrated and treated as long-standing APC members.”
The leader of the defectors, Mohammad Karofin-Yashi, said during his remarks that their decision was influenced by the development strides of the APC-led government.
According to him, the group is confident that the APC will continue to advance Kano State and the country, adding that they intend to mobilise more NNPP members who will soon join the All Progressives Congress.
