A seventy-six-year-old man, Zubair Audu has been arrested by the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps for an alleged attempt to kill his son with a Dane gun.
The septuagenarian, according to the command, chased his son, now at large with a locally made rifle over some disagreement that later degenerated into a fight.
According to the information made available to the WuzupNigeria on Thursday by the Command’s Image maker Babawale Afolabi, the unfortunate incident occurred at Alagbado Area 5, Mountain Avenue, Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
Afolabi said “On Wednesday 23/06/2021, at about 1445hours, NSCDC Divisional Office at Pake area, (Ilorin South), received a distress call that one 76 years old man was chasing his son with a locally made rifle.
“Further investigation has revealed that there has been no love between the father and the son which might have snowballed into the life-threatening incident,” he added.
Babawale spoke further that the timely intervention of the NSCDC Anti Vandal Patrol team in the area calmed the situation adding that the old man and his rifle are in the custody of the NSCDC while a serious man-hunt has begun for the son who is still at large.
“The State Commandant, Iskil Makinde, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident,” he added.
