No fewer than six civilians lost their lives on Monday, September 19, 2016, when suspected Boko Haram terrorists ambushed troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE escorting commercial vehicles from Damboa to Maiduguri, at Sanda general area, Borno State.
This was disclosed to newsmen moments ago by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, adding that three soldiers also sustained injuries during the ambush.
It was gathered that five out of the six civilian casualties died at the scene of the attack while another died on the way to the hospital.
The wounded have been evacuated to Maiduguri, Col. Usman added in the report.
The army PRO stated that another robust patrol team has been dispatched to reinforce the troops, clear the general area and pursue the terrorists.
He advised the general public to be more vigilance, assuring that the army would not allow this isolated incident to thwart the peace and security commuters enjoy along the route and all other opened routes in the North East.
