50 Cent sues ex-girlfriend over rape, abuse accusations
Rapper 50 Cent, also known as Curtis Jackson, has taken legal action against his former girlfriend Daphne Joy after she accused him of rape and physical abuse in a March 2024 Instagram post.
In court documents filed in Texas on Monday, May 6, Jackson alleges that Joy’s accusations have caused him significant public ridicule and aimed to tarnish his reputation and prevent him from seeing their 11-year-old son, Sire.
Joy’s Instagram post, made on March 28, claimed that Jackson had only seen Sire 10 times in two years and accused him of rape and physical abuse.
Jackson’s attorney, Reena Jain, stated that Joy’s refusal to retract her accusations despite opportunities to do so has harmed the relationship between Jackson and his son.
In response to the lawsuit, Joy’s attorney has not yet provided a comment.
Jackson’s filing asserts that Joy’s accusations were made out of spite following reports of Jackson seeking custody of their son. The documents claim that Joy’s statements were intended to harm Jackson’s reputation and negatively impact his custody case.
Jackson is seeking over $1 million in damages, citing the online backlash he faced due to Joy’s allegations. He alleges that Joy’s actions stem from “sheer hatred and ill will.”
This legal dispute follows Jackson’s previous legal issues related to domestic violence charges against Joy in 2013, where he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and received probation and community service.
