A Nigerian movie, “The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai” has been nominated for best international film by the National Film Awards UK.
The nomination is an indication that the film has been received well by the audiences across the globe and as international appeal.
The movie sequel also triumphed abroad as the biggest Nollywood release ever in the UK
The star-studded movie was nominated alongside ‘Get Out’, ‘Girls Trip’, ‘The Shape of Water’, ‘Bright’ and ‘Roman J. Israel, Esq’.
Other movies nominated for the best international film category include ‘Kingsman – The Golden Circle’, ‘Borg vs McEnroe’, and ‘American Made, Barry Seal’.
In February, the producers of the movie said it made over N500 million within the six weeks of its release in cinemas, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time.
Patience Ozokwor, Omoni Oboli, Seyi Law, Chigurl, Banky W, Adesuwa Etomi, Daniella Down, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ali Baba, Ireti Doyle, Enyinna Nwigwe, Beverly Naya and Somkele Idhalama are some of the stars of the movie.
Winners of the National Film Awards UK will be announced at a ceremony which will take place at The Porchester on March 28.
Jude Law, Julie Andrews, Ewan McGregor, Daniel Kaluuya, Harry Styles, Halle Berry and Gemma Arterton are among the stars shortlisted for various awards.
