British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega, has revealed the reason he chose Wizkid’s song ‘Daddy Yo’, for the soundtrack for his upcoming film ‘Pacific Rim.’

He said one of the most exciting things about producing the film was the opportunity to influence creative choices in the film so it was important to have Afrobeats music in the action flick.

He wrote on Instagram,

One of the most exciting things about producing Pacific Rim Uprising was the opportunity to influence the creative choices. So I put @wizkidayo song “Daddy yo” in the movie. Jaegers need afrobeats too!

In response, Wizkid took to Twitter to hail the actor saying “My bro.”

The Hollywood star had in December disclosed that ‘Pacific Rim’, would heavily target Nigeria as the main marketing spot.

Boyega is known for playing Finn in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh film of the Star Wars series, and its 2017 sequel Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

He rose to prominence in his native United Kingdom for his role as Moses in the 2011 sci-fi comedy film Attack the Block.

The film is about Jake Pentecost a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous Kaiju. Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through cities and bring the world to its knees, Jake is given one last chance by his estranged sister, Mako Mori, to live up to his father’s legacy.
