A Kano Shari’a Court Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, on Friday remanded a 28-year-old labourer, Nasiru Abdulfatai, in a correctional centre for allegedly hitting the face of a trader, Salisu Usman, with a sharp object.

Khalid adjourned the matter until March 21, for mention.

Abdulfatai, who lives at Mariri Quarters, Kano State, is being tried on a charge of causing grievous hurt.

The prosecutor, Insp Abdul Wada, told the court that one Salisu Usman of Fagge Quarters reported the matter at the Fagge Police Division in Kano State on February 22.

He said that on the same date at 7.00 p.m., the defendant had a misunderstanding with the complainant.

In the process, he used a sharp object to inflict serious injury on the complainant’s chin, face and lips.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Sections 158 and 240 of the Sharia Penal Code Law.
