Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a strong caution to former President Goodluck Jonathan concerning the 2027 presidential election, advising him to tread carefully, especially in relation to the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele described the PDP as a “cursed party,” warning that any politician seeking to contest under its platform must be prepared to undertake significant spiritual and political work.
He emphasized that there are other political parties which could serve as more favorable platforms for Jonathan, suggesting that remaining with the PDP could present major obstacles
“If Jonathan wants to come out of PDP, he will do a lot of work because there is a curse on the party already; there are other parties he can come out from that are better than PDP,” Ayodele stated.
The cleric further warned that Jonathan could be misled by advisers, potentially derailing his political ambitions.
“Jonathan will be blindfolded, wrong advisers will destroy his dreams, and if he contests and loses, he will be embarrassed by his past and face disrespect,” he added.
Although Jonathan has not officially declared his intention to run in 2027, there have been calls from political figures, including former minister Prof. Jerry Gana, urging him to return to the race. Jonathan previously served as president from 2010, following the death of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and was elected for a full term in 2011 before losing his re-election bid in 2015 to the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
