The Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State has initiated a verification process of its members as part of efforts to revitalize and reposition the party.
Mr. Mike Ojisi, the party’s Publicity Secretary, announced the development during a press briefing following a meeting of the State Working Committee on Friday in Calabar.
Ojisi explained that the exercise aims to identify genuine party members across all 18 local government areas in the state.
He added that the verification would help build a stronger and more united PDP in preparation for the 2027 elections. “The exercise will be conducted by the local government chairmen of the party. We are committed to building a formidable party,” Ojisi said.
Addressing recent defections from the party, Ojisi attributed the trend to greed and personal interests rather than ideological differences.
He praised party loyalists for their resilience and encouraged members to stay firm. “Don’t fall for their empty promises. They only seek to exploit Nigerians because they have institutionalized poverty in the land,” he warned.
Ojisi concluded by urging members to remain steadfast, describing the PDP as “Nigeria’s most viable option for a brighter future.”
