The West African Examinations Council has released the 2026 WASSCE results for school candidates, with 61.54 per cent earning five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
According to WAEC, candidates can now access their results after generating or recovering their result-checking PIN and serial number.
The examination body announced the release through its official X account on Wednesday.
“2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at https://www.waec.org and check your results now on https://www.waecdirect.org,” the council stated.
WAEC said 1,950,726 candidates sat for the examination across participating schools.
Of that number, 1,200,514 candidates obtained credit passes or higher grades in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
The figure represents 61.54 per cent of the candidates who took the examination.
The performance benchmark remains important for candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
However, individual institutions and courses may require specific credit passes in additional subjects.
Nearly two million candidates sit examination
A total of 1,959,668 candidates from more than 24,200 schools registered for the 2026 examination.
Participating schools came from Nigeria, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.
WAEC said 1,950,726 registered candidates eventually sat for the examination.
The main examination ran from April 24 to June 19, while earlier practical planning sessions appeared on the timetable from April 21.
WAEC engaged thousands of examiners across several marking centres to assess candidates’ scripts and complete the result-processing exercise.
The council had earlier promised to release the results within approximately 45 days of the final paper.
Candidates advised to use official websites
WAEC advised candidates to use only its approved platforms when generating PINs or checking results.
The council warned against providing personal or examination details to unofficial websites and individuals claiming to sell result-checking services.
Candidates should visit https://www.waec.org to obtain their details and https://www.waecdirect.org to view their results.
Anyone who experiences difficulties should confirm that the examination number, year, examination type, PIN and serial number were entered correctly.
The result portal may also respond slowly when many candidates attempt to access it simultaneously.
Candidates should wait briefly and try again rather than repeatedly purchasing new result-checking PINs.
The release follows WAEC’s continued expansion of technology in its examination administration and result-processing system.
