The Federal Government has proposed over N2 billion for the renovation of the Federal Ministry of Justice headquarters in Abuja and its Lagos zonal office, according to details from the 2025 budget.

The appropriation bill outlines N2.03 billion for repair and renovation work, N200 million for the maintenance of office buildings and residential quarters, and N15 million for maintaining office furniture.

Additional allocations include N20 million for office and IT equipment maintenance and N40 million for the upkeep of plants and generators.

This allocation marks a significant increase from the N971.9 million earmarked for similar renovation projects in 2024, signaling the government’s renewed focus on infrastructure upgrades within the Justice Ministry.

The 2025 budget, titled “The Restoration Budget: Securing Peace, Building Prosperity,” was presented by President Bola Tinubu to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 18. The ₦49.7 trillion budget proposal is part of the administration’s effort to restore key sectors and boost the nation’s infrastructure.

Lawmakers in both the Senate and House of Representatives passed the budget for a second reading the following day, moving it closer to full legislative approval.

The substantial allocation for the Justice Ministry has drawn attention, with analysts highlighting its critical role in ensuring efficient justice delivery.

However, some critics have called for greater transparency in the execution of these projects to ensure value for money and prevent wastage of public funds.

As the Federal Government prioritizes key projects in its 2025 budget, the focus remains on restoring public confidence in governance and addressing pressing national challenges.
