Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has called on Nigerians to stay hopeful and united as the nation steps into 2025.

In his New Year’s message, the governor emphasized the importance of collective effort in rebuilding Nigeria and addressing its challenges.

Fintiri expressed optimism about the new year, urging citizens not to lose sight of their dreams and aspirations.

“The hope, dreams, and expectations must not be lost,” Fintiri said. “We must resolve this New Year to return to ourselves and give impetus to them.”

Reflecting on 2024, he acknowledged the hardships faced by many but praised the spirit of togetherness among the people of Adamawa.

“When things got hard, the people of Adamawa, in the spirit of being their brother’s keeper, were there for each other,” he noted.

The governor highlighted his administration’s efforts in providing poverty alleviation programs to ease economic hardships and promised more initiatives to make life affordable.

“As we look ahead to the New Year, our government will continue to build an economy that works for all. We will keep attracting historic investments into the state,” Fintiri said.

He also reassured citizens about ongoing efforts to strengthen security and reform governance.

“In 2025, let’s continue to show up for one another, and together, let’s build a better future for everyone,” he added.

Fintiri emphasized that most of Nigeria’s challenges are man-made and require collective action.

“Looking back at all that we went through in the past year, perhaps the time has come for us to take an introspective look at ourselves in an attempt to get to the root of our problems and challenges,” he said.

He identified ethnic and religious intolerance as major obstacles to national unity, describing them as “the twin evils threatening to devour our collective heritage.”

“We must start by defining for ourselves the kind of future that we want,” Fintiri said. “It is only when we agree on this that we can unite towards recreating the Nigeria of our collective dreams.”

Fintiri outlined achievements in Adamawa under his administration, including job creation through an 8-point agenda and plans to expand irrigation projects in 2025.

“Our government is committed to inclusive growth and improving the lives of our people,” he said. “Whatever it takes to transform our structures to accelerate growth, we shall do.”

On security, he stressed that it is a shared responsibility, commending uniformed personnel and stakeholders for their sacrifices.

“We salute the courage of our uniformed personnel and call on everyone to play their part in making our shared dream of growth and prosperity a reality,” Fintiri stated.

The governor urged citizens to reject divisive politics and focus on progressive and people-oriented agendas.

“We must avoid parochial and divisive politics and embrace a culture that will define us positively in the years ahead,” he said.

Fintiri concluded by calling on all Nigerians to partner with the government to achieve a united and prosperous nation.

“We have a lot to be thankful for in 2024,” he said. “Let us move forward with hope and determination to build a better Nigeria.”
