2023: Prof joins Abia governorship race on PDP platform

The Pro-Chancellor, Gregory University, Uturu, Prof Greg Ibe, has declared interest in contesting for the 2023 Govership Election in Abia State under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Ibe, who is the founder of GUU, made his intentions known while addressing party faithful at the party secretariat in Umuahia on Wednesday.

He was quoted by The PUNCH as saying he wants “a new Abia that will ensure Abia State is placed on a higher pedestal which will benefit all and sundry.”

“My blueprint mirrors the 30-year developmental plan of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu which will be synergized to achieve optimum outcomes for our home state of Abia.

“Despite lean resources, I have developed a formula which will see to the sustained payment of workers’ salaries and pensions as and when due,” he said.

He assured that he would deliver on all his promises.

The state chairman of PDP, Alwell Asiforo said Ibe is the third aspirant to have approached the party, assuring him that the party would look at his presentation.

He pointed out that the party was committed to a free, fair and credible election, adding “the most important thing is unity and the will of God.

Others who have declared their interest include Sen. Enyi Abaribe and Sen. Emma Nwaka.
