Edo State Police Command has detained a 19-year-old native doctor, Timothy Dauda, for allegedly shooting his client, Alex Ezekiel, to death during a trial for an “anti-bullet” charm.
The incident happened on August 20 in Onumu Community, near Igara, in Akoko Edo Local Government Area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, saying, “The suspect was arrested by operatives from Igarra Divisional Police Station in Akoko-Edo.”
According to reports, Dauda claimed to specialize in making charms that protect against gunshots and machete cuts. The deceased, Alex Ezekiel, had visited Dauda’s home to obtain one of these charms.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Dauda decided to test the charm by shooting Ezekiel. The charm failed, and Ezekiel sustained fatal injuries.
A source said, “When he was rushed to a hospital in Igarra, he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.”
SP Moses Yamu said that Dauda will face prosecution as soon as investigations are concluded.
