The Nigeria Police Force says 151 senior officers are under investigation for misconduct and professional wrongdoing.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the disciplinary process started on Monday, July 14, and will end on July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to Adejobi, the officers under probe are of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above. He said the investigation is being handled by the Force Disciplinary Committee, which reviews cases of alleged misconduct and violations of professional standards.
“The officers are from different commands and units across the country. The committee is following a thorough and transparent review process as laid down by police regulations,” the statement said.
Adejobi explained that the outcome of the hearings will be sent to the Police Service Commission, which will decide on punishments or exonerations based on the law.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said the exercise is part of his effort to restore discipline in the force. He warned that his administration will not tolerate indiscipline or misconduct, no matter the officer’s rank.
He said, “The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to promoting integrity, professionalism, and public trust. This disciplinary process shows that we are serious about accountability and the rule of law within the force.”
