15-year-old autustic Nigerian artist to unveil world’s largest art canvas

A 15-year-old autistic Nigerian artist, Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, is set to make history by unveiling the world’s largest art canvas created by an individual.

The unveiling is scheduled to take place on April 2 at Eagle Square, Abuja, in celebration of World Autism Awareness Day.

The event will also mark the official presentation of the Guinness World Records certificate to the young artist.

Notable dignitaries expected to attend include the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,?Nyesom Wike, who will serve as the chief host, and FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, as the co-host.

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, will be the special guest of honour.

Kanyeyachukwu, fondly called Kanye*
began his record-breaking attempt on August 20, 2024, under a project by the Zeebah Foundation titled Impossibility Is A Myth. The initiative aims to raise funds for the foundation’s planned state-of-the-art autism resource centre in Abuja.

The event is supported by organisations such as the Society of Nigerian Artists, Zeebah Foundation, the federal ministries of education and health, as well as corporate sponsors including MTN and GTCO.

Born in November 2009, Kanye is a gifted artist whose works have been displayed in galleries and museums across Nigeria, Europe, and other parts of Africa.

In 2018, his art was showcased alongside works by three other Nigerian artists at the OPEC Fund for International Development headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
