In a startling revelation, the Katsina State Police Command has exposed a kidnapping plot allegedly masterminded by a 14-year-old girl who staged her own abduction and coordinated the kidnapping of her 4-year-old sister to demand a N50 million ransom from their father.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, made the disclosure during a press briefing at the Katsina Police Headquarters.

He announced that the police successfully dismantled the kidnapping ring, rescued the younger child, arrested four suspects, and recovered a live round of AK-47 ammunition.

The case was initially reported on February 20, 2025, by Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters in Katsina.

He informed authorities that his two daughters, aged 14 and 4, had been kidnapped and the abductors were demanding a N50 million ransom for their release.

Sadiq stated: “About four months after the kidnapping, the eldest daughter resurfaced. When questioned, she confessed to having conspired with three others to kidnap her 4-year-old sister and faked her own abduction.”

Following her confession, police apprehended three accomplices aged 25, 19, and 16, and successfully rescued the younger girl.

“They all confessed to committing the offence,” Sadiq added. “During the investigation, one live round of 7.62mm ammunition was recovered from their possession. The investigation is ongoing.”

Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the officers for their swift response and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to support law enforcement efforts in tackling crime.
