Published

At least 14 worshippers were allegedly kidnapped when armed gang suspected to be terrorists invaded a mosque in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

An eyewitness disclosed that the assailant struck during evening prayer (Ishai prayer), on Thursday.

“They surrounded the mosque and abducted 14 people. They also carted away an unspecified number of cattle from Tudun Amada village in, still in Giwa,” the source said.

Daily Trust reports the attack caught the residents by surprise as the community vigilance group had successfully repelled them on a number of occasions.

Another resident who craved anonymity said, “The gunmen divided themselves, while some were operating at the mosque, others moved from house to house thereby abducting more than ten women.

“Some of them were however busy carting away domestic animals such as cows, sheep and goat numbering hundreds.”

As of the time of filing this report on Friday evening, four persons had allegedly regained freedom.

When contacted, Kaduna State Police Public Relation Officer, Mohammed Jalinge, said he would release an official report concerning the attack soon.
