At least 12 people have died and eight others were still missing as of Monday morning in the Philippines after floods and landslides swept through several areas, fueled by the combined impact of the southwest monsoon and Tropical Cyclones Kujira and Dolphin.
Office of Civil Defense Assistant Secretary Laurence Mina said 11 people were also injured, according to The Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Mina said the deaths were attributed to several incidents, including landslides, rockslides, falling trees, electrocution and drowning.
The disaster has affected nearly 586,000 people across nine regions and 33 provinces, GMA News Online reported.
Authorities also carried out precautionary evacuations involving 4,866 people in Regions I, III, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.
More than 32,800 people have been forced from their homes and are currently sheltering in evacuation centers or staying with relatives.
