It is no more news that the transfer window came to a close on Wednesday night in Europe with some high profile deals wrapped up in last minutes of the deadline.
Among the eye catching deals of the deadline day were Chelsea’s re-signing of David Luiz from PSG at a mouth watering 34million pounds, Moussa Sissoko’s joining of Tottenham from last season’s relegated Newcastle United at 30million pounds and Jack Wilshere season loan move to Bournemouth from Arsenal.
Though the transfer window has closed, but that won’t stop some clubs from strengthening their teams ahead of what looks like an exciting football season across Europe.
Despite the transfer window deadline on Wednesday night, clubs are free to sign unattached players at any point in the season as long as they register the player in their 25-man Premier League squad.
If you thought the closure of the summer transfer window has ended the razzmatazz we witnessed last night, then you may have a rethink, as the free agent merry-go-round fires up to offer clubs a second chance of strengthening their squads.
No fewer than 20 quality players are still available to be signed for the season ahead, clubs that missed out on their targets will already be weighing up their options in the free agent market.
Interestingly, there’s some attractive players available for any club that wants to make further addition to its roster.
The likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Stephane Sessegnon, Dani Osvaldo, Martin Caceres and Bendtner are all on the free agent market. Also, a number of veterans like Nicholas Anelka, Dmitry Barbertov, Mathieu Flamini and others are currently on the lookout for one last chance of securing a club after seeing their contracts run down at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, two free agents have already been snapped up on deadline day, with Wales striker Hal Robson-Kanu joining West Bromwich Albion and Alvaro Arbeloa moving to West Ham after leaving Reading and Real Madrid respectively.
Manchester United also displayed their prowess in the free agent market as they lured Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford after he left Paris Saint-Germain in one of the highest profile signings of the summer.
So who are the free agents on the lookout for a new home?
